The Truth Behind Jack and Jill

Jack and Jill might be a fun filled nursery rhyme for kids, but what's the real story behind the rhyme? The story "jack and jill" was written in France. Jack stands for King Louis XVI who was beheaded (lost his crown), and Jill stands for Queen Marie Antoinette who "came tumbling after." The beheading of this king and queen happened in 1793. So if you thought this rhyme was just for fun and had no purpose...well...things aren't always as they seem.

And Jill came tumbling after.
